The City of Morgantown is the recipient of a $69,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant for the Riverside Park Project. This project has been in the planning phase for several years, and the City of Morgantown has applied for the LWCF Grant twice before in attempts to move forward with this project. LWCF Grants are highly competitive, and Morgantown's project was one of 28 projects presented to the LWCF Advisory Board in November.
The project includes a walking trail, bathroom facility, trash receptacles, and benches.
The City of Morgantown received a $40,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant in 2020 for a boat dock next to the Morgantown boat ramp; this project has been awarded to a contractor and construction will begin soon, with the boat dock project anticipated to be complete by late spring or early summer.
The City of Morgantown will also be applying for a grant for a farmers market pavilion to be located at the River Park this year. If the farmers market grant is awarded, we hope to see that project completed by no later than next spring.
And, since we're talking about parks, the City is planning the grand opening of the Charles Black City Park, and will be posting details about it soon. The Charles Black City Park will be opening this spring!
