WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) delivered a speech on the U.S. Senate floor today, firmly stating his opposition to any expedited passage of a spending bill that provides additional American aid to Ukraine. Dr. Paul emphasized that the United States cannot afford to send more money to Ukraine, considering the current deficit of over $1.5 trillion.

During his address, Dr. Paul stated, "I rise to put the leadership of the House, the Senate, and the president of the United States on notice. I will not consent to any expedited passage of any spending bill that provides any more American aid to Ukraine. It’s as if no one has noticed that we have no extra money to send to Ukraine. Our deficit this year will exceed $1.5 trillion."

Dr. Paul further highlighted the importance of prioritizing the security and prosperity of the United States. He expressed concerns that channeling billions of dollars into the conflict in eastern Ukraine could lead to miscalculations or escalation, potentially drawing the United States into direct conflict with Russia.

"We cannot continue with business as usual. We cannot continue to put the needs of other countries above our own. We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy, and we certainly cannot save Ukraine by fighting a war with Russia," Dr. Paul stressed.

He urged his colleagues to oppose any attempt to hold the federal government hostage for Ukraine funding, emphasizing that the national security threat lies in the country's increasing debt. Dr. Paul asserted that prioritizing the American people should take precedence over providing aid to Ukraine.

In his floor remarks, Dr. Paul emphasized the need for a foreign policy that benefits the United States, adding that the nation's growing debt weakens its position globally. He encouraged his fellow lawmakers to consider the long-term consequences of sending money overseas and depleting national resources.
