WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced a resolution to protect Senate Pages from COVID-19 vaccination requirements, as part of his ongoing efforts to defend individual freedoms and challenge unscientific mandates. The resolution aims to address the increased risk of myocarditis among children and teenagers who have received mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, as well as the higher risks posed by the vaccine compared to the virus for young and healthy individuals. It is also important to note that the vaccines do not stop the transmission of COVID-19.
Unfortunately, Senate Democrats once again rejected following the science and objected to Dr. Paul's resolution passing by unanimous consent.
In his remarks, Dr. Paul emphasized the importance of common sense prevailing and the repeal of this mandate, citing the precedent set for young soldiers. He stated, "We shouldn’t allow politics to infect and cloud common sense judgment. The vaccine committees that make recommendations for vaccines actually don’t recommend COVID boosters for young, healthy individuals."
Dr. Paul also questioned the Democrats' desire for submission and their lack of consideration for parental choice and the well-being of children who may have already had COVID-19. He argued, "Why are we forcing these kids to do something that I would say is against medical advice to be a page in our program here."
He further added, "No one should be forced to undergo a medical procedure against their will. In a free society, no one should be forced to receive an injection into their body that they do not wish to have… the Democrat’s Party support for medical choice seems selective and inconsistent."

Background:
In previous weeks, Dr. Paul introduced resolutions to protect Senate Pages from COVID-19 vaccine mandates, which were rejected by Senate Democrats. This is not the first time Dr. Paul has advocated against unscientific mandates. He introduced a similar resolution last year and also presented the Vaccination Non-Discrimination Act, ensuring that federal taxpayer dollars do not support healthcare facilities that deny care based on COVID-19 vaccination status. Additionally, Dr. Paul offered an amendment to the Fire Grants and Safety Act, protecting firefighters who refuse vaccination or voice opposition to mandates. He has consistently opposed mask mandates and introduced the Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act of 2021.
