WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie (KY-02) and Subcommittee on Health Ranking Member Anna G. Eshoo (CA-16) released the following statement applauding the passage of the Medicaid VBPs for Patients (MVP) Act in a Health Subcommittee markup.

“With the passage of the MVP Act at Health Subcommittee markup on May 17, our bill to help bring more life-saving and potentially curative treatments to vulnerable populations is one step closer to becoming law. We thank our colleagues on the Health Subcommittee who joined us in supporting the needed flexibility for states to enter into value-based purchasing arrangements. This not only provides more Americans access to high-cost and potentially life-changing treatments, but it also better aligns incentives in health care and ultimately reduces costs of patient care,” said Guthrie and Eshoo.

Guthrie reintroduced the MVP Act with U.S. Representatives Eshoo, John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13), Jake Auchincloss (MA-04), and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01). With the MVP Act’s passage at a Health Subcommittee markup, this bill advances to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.
