Rep. Brett Guthrie, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 2nd district, has been vocal on various issues through his recent social media posts. Guthrie, who has been a member of Congress since 2009 and previously served in the Kentucky Senate, has expressed concerns ranging from border security to environmental funding.
On November 22, 2024, Rep. Guthrie criticized the Biden administration's border policies in a tweet stating: "Thanks to the open border policies of the Biden admin our communities and nearby neighbors are seeing record numbers of cases with illegal migrant gangs, this time from Venezuela. We must regain control of our Southern border immediately." He emphasized the urgency of regaining control over the Southern border.
Later that day, Guthrie shared his meeting with the Kentucky Distillers Association via another tweet dated November 22, 2024: "This week I was happy to meet with the Kentucky Distillers Association about the issues facing distillers across our Commonwealth. These family owned distilleries are the backbones of many of our communities providing thousands of jobs for our communities." He reiterated his commitment to supporting these local businesses.
On November 25, 2024, Rep. Guthrie addressed funding concerns related to environmental groups in a tweet saying: "Left wing environmentalist groups that support terrorist groups in Gaza and across the world should never receive American tax dollars. It’s shameful that the Biden administration hasn’t already cancelled this funding." He expressed his intent to collaborate with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin on this matter.
