Washington, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) expressed his admiration for Senator Mitch McConnell's service as Senate Republican Leader in a recent statement. McConnell announced his decision to step down from the leadership position at the end of the year.
"I am honored to serve with Leader McConnell representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky the last fifteen years, as well as call him a close friend and mentor," Guthrie stated. He continued by highlighting McConnell's role in representing Kentucky's values and elevating the state's prominence in national discussions.
Guthrie acknowledged McConnell's remarkable tenure in the Senate, emphasizing his 39 plus years of service and unprecedented leadership as Senate Republican Leader for the past 17 years. "I thank him for his service not just to our nation but to each of our 120 counties across Kentucky," Guthrie added.
Looking ahead, Guthrie expressed his anticipation of collaborating with McConnell for the remainder of the 118th Congress. "I look forward to working with Leader McConnell throughout the rest of the 118th Congress to continue delivering for Kentucky communities across our Second District," he affirmed.
