Now 83 years later we still honor those who bravely defended our nation at Pearl Harbor and in its aftermath."

In a more personal message dated December 9, 2024, Rep. Guthrie extended his condolences to Dr. Burgess and his family following a tragic loss. He wrote, "Beth and I are so sorry for Dr. Burgess, Laura, and your family following this tragic loss. The loss of a child is profoundly sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time."
