WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) has expressed his support for the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the historic pay raise for servicemembers that it includes. The legislation aims to ensure that the military remains the world's superpower while providing much-needed support for military families.
In a statement, Congressman Guthrie highlighted the significance of the NDAA in supporting the men and women who protect the nation's freedoms. As the representative for Fort Knox and the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, he emphasized his commitment to fighting for those who serve.
"This legislation helps to continue strong Congressional support of our military and their families by expanding Basic Needs Allowance to assist servicemembers supporting a family, authorizes a reduction of out-of-pocket housing expenses, and reduces out of pocket childcare expenses for military families," Congressman Guthrie said.
He also took pride in his provision to support the Army Human Resources Command (HRC) at Fort Knox as it carries out its 2030 army transformation plan. This plan aims to enhance support for soldiers and ensure their readiness for future challenges.
Congressman Guthrie urged President Biden to sign the bipartisan legislation promptly to ensure that the military receives the necessary resources and support. The NDAA not only secures the military's status as a global superpower but also provides servicemembers with the largest pay raise in over 20 years.
The inclusion of measures such as the expansion of the Basic Needs Allowance and the reduction of out-of-pocket expenses for housing and childcare demonstrates the government's commitment to the well-being of military families.
By approving the NDAA, Congress acknowledges the sacrifices made by servicemembers and their families and recognizes the importance of providing them with the necessary support and resources they need.
