WKU Women’s Tennis will play against Austin Peay at noon on Saturday, April 4, at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green.

The match is significant as both teams bring strong records into the contest. WKU has a 10-12 overall record and has performed well at home this spring with an 8-5 mark. The Lady Toppers have won at least ten matches in each of the last five seasons, marking only the second time in program history that they have achieved this consistency.

The Lady Toppers’ doubles performance has been a key factor this season; they are undefeated in seven matches when winning the doubles point. Emily Schut ranks thirteenth in program history with twenty-two career doubles wins and is tied for thirteenth with twenty-four singles victories. Freshman Virginia Madueño leads WKU singles play with a 14-4 record, while fellow freshman Barbara Olvera stands at 10-9 across several positions.

Head Coach Greg Davis enters Saturday’s match with three hundred forty-seven career wins as a head coach and eighty-eight wins during his tenure at WKU, which ranks second all-time for the program. Davis said, “Austin Peay has a tremendous team. We played very well against Campbellsville on Thursday and we are looking forward to some great competition Saturday.”

In series history, WKU leads Austin Peay twenty-nine to fifteen; however, Austin Peay won last year’s meeting by a score of four to three in Bowling Green. The Governors come into the match with a ten-four record under head coach Maria Sorbello Morrison, who took over the program in June two thousand twenty-two.

Admission to Saturday’s match is free.
