WKU Women’s Tennis will host Middle Tennessee for a Senior Day match on April 9 at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, with ceremonies set to begin at 11:45 a.m. CT.
The event will honor seniors Elizabeth Sobieski and Carolina Chiatti before the start of play. The Lady Toppers currently hold a 10-13 overall record and are 1-2 in Conference USA competition, while maintaining an 8-5 record in home matches this season.
According to the program, WKU has achieved at least ten wins each season for the past five years, marking only the second time this milestone has been reached consecutively in team history. The Lady Toppers have recorded a total of 72 victories over these five seasons, which is their highest win tally over such a period.
True freshman Virginia Madueño was recently named Conference USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. This is WKU’s second weekly conference award this season; earlier, Madueño and Barbara Olvera were recognized as Doubles Team of the Week on February 4. Head Coach Greg Davis has guided players to twelve CUSA weekly awards during his tenure.
Davis said about Senior Day: “We’ve got two seniors who have done a tremendous job, especially on the leadership side, in Carolina Chiatti and Elizabeth Sobieski. They’ve done a good job for us this year.” Davis currently ranks second all-time in coaching wins for WKU with 88 victories and entered this season tied for twenty-third nationally among active NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis head coaches with at least five years’ experience.
Middle Tennessee arrives with a 6-13 overall record (1-5 CUSA) under Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall and leads the all-time series against WKU by thirty wins to fourteen. However, WKU won their last meeting in Bowling Green during the 2024 season.
