Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman-Elect Brett Guthrie has announced the appointment of two long-time aides to key positions within the committee. Megan Jackson will assume the role of Staff Director, while Sophie Khanahmadi will serve as Deputy Staff Director.
Guthrie expressed confidence in their abilities, stating, "Today, I am proud to announce that Megan Jackson will serve as the Staff Director and Sophie Khanahmadi will serve as Deputy Staff Director for the Energy & Commerce Committee. Megan, a Kentucky native, is a seasoned Capitol Hill professional who served as my Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for more than eight years and has extensive experience both on and off Capitol Hill. Megan has consistently displayed strong leadership qualities and an ability to advance conservative policies. Sophie has been a key member of my team for the last seven years, most recently serving as my Chief of Staff. Her experience helping to execute my legislative agenda and lead our team will be instrumental for the Committee. Megan and Sophie are trusted advisors who will be central to advancing our America First agenda and bringing conservative solutions to the issues facing the American people."
Megan Jackson's career includes over 14 years on Capitol Hill, with significant time spent working alongside Guthrie since his first Congressional campaign in 2008. She has also held a position at Alkermes, Inc., where she was Vice President of Policy and Government Relations.
Sophie Trainor Khanahmadi brings nearly 15 years of Capitol Hill experience to her new role. She has been Guthrie’s Chief of Staff for three years after serving four years as his Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director.
Both appointments signal Guthrie's commitment to advancing his legislative priorities through experienced leadership within the Energy & Commerce Committee.
