Congressmen Brett Guthrie and Morgan Griffith have expressed their concerns regarding the Biden-Harris Administration's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a joint op-ed published in The Washington Reporter. They argue that the EPA is implementing solutions without addressing real problems, under the guise of "climate justice."

The Congressmen criticized the EPA's electric vehicle (EV) mandates, which aim for two-thirds of all U.S. car sales to be electric by 2032. They claim these goals are unrealistic due to various factors, including the higher cost of EVs compared to gas-powered cars and limitations in mountainous regions where battery life diminishes quickly. Additionally, they note that cold weather can reduce battery range by up to 40%, leading to a surplus of unsold EVs on dealership lots.

Guthrie and Griffith also addressed concerns about energy reliability, stating: "The Biden-Harris hypocritical electrification strategy will increase the need for reliable baseload power generation, while at the same time they’re forcing the use of intermittent sources of wind and solar through the Clean Power Plan 2.0 that will drive out fossil fuels that are reliable and keep the lights on." They emphasize that access to electricity is essential rather than a luxury.

They further argue that power generation is crucial for economic activity in the U.S., presenting an opportunity to reduce reliance on countries like China while creating stable jobs domestically. However, they criticize what they describe as a radical agenda from the Biden-Harris EPA, targeting manufacturing with regulations aimed at fulfilling environmentalist objectives.
