Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), a senior member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, recently published an op-ed in The Hill addressing President Joe Biden’s ban on liquified natural gas (LNG) exports and permitting. Guthrie argues that this policy is detrimental to America's national security.

"The Biden administration’s short-sighted decision fails to realize the global implications that this policy will have on our own national security for years to come," Guthrie stated. He emphasized that U.S. LNG production enhances the energy security of European allies by reducing their reliance on foreign dictators. "The longer this pause continues, we risk allowing foreign adversaries like Russia to rebound and force our partners in Europe to replace American-sourced supplies with exports from our adversaries."

Guthrie highlighted legislative efforts by House Republicans to counteract the administration's policy: "Short-sighted decisions like that are the reason House Republicans took action, passing the Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act, which reverses Biden’s LNG export ban and repeals all restrictions on the import and export of natural gas."

For further details, readers are encouraged to access the full op-ed in The Hill.
