This means that the U.S. government would accumulate over $5 billion in debt every day for the next ten years.

The senator expressed concern about the sustainability of such reckless borrowing and spending. He cautioned that this level of debt would lead to a weak economy, high inflation, and confiscatory tax rates. Dr. Paul stated, "Today's spending threatens tomorrow's prosperity."
