The George W. Cooper Doll Collection Talk
Wednesday, September 21, 2022
Some of you may remember the collection of dolls in the Secret Room at the Central Library. This collection is now housed in the Arts and Literature Division in the Rundel Building. In 1935, students and teachers at Theodore Roosevelt School #43 contacted the then-existing 69 countries of the world. The students offered to send to each country a Shirley Temple doll from the United States in exchange for a doll dressed in the traditional clothing of that country. This doll collection now numbers over 200. Learn about this special doll collection, with former Head of the Children’s Center, Barbara Billingsley. This talk will be given through Zoom, and you can register here: https://calendar.libraryweb.org/event/9278787
