97 percent of applicants to Western Kentucky University were admitted for fall 2018

At Western Kentucky University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Bowling Green enrolled 19,456 students in fall 2018, including 17,030 in undergraduate and 2,426 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

74 percent of undergraduates are residents of Kentucky, and 25 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (79 percent) and Black or African American (8 percent).

The school admitted 97 percent of the 9,250 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 33 percent enrolled.
