Senator Rand Paul, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, addressed several policy concerns in a series of posts on April 17, 2026.

In one post, Paul stated, “Roughly 1.7 million illegal immigrants received full-scope coverage in California’s Medicaid program, which in some instances included ‘gender-affirming care…'” (April 17, 2026).

Later the same day, Paul criticized government spending by drawing an analogy: “If a cashier charges you twice for the same item, you’d notice & refuse to pay. Why don’t we do the same in Washington? The government runs thousands of duplicative programs. My Duplication Scoring Act would stop us from paying twice for the same thing.” (April 17, 2026).

Paul also commented on election security: “Election integrity is essential to preserving our constitutional republic. We need paper ballots, limited mail-in voting, and in-person voting with ID checks. That’s why we must pass the SAVE America Act—to keep our elections safe and trustworthy.” (April 17, 2026).

Senator Paul is known for his advocacy on privacy and civil liberties as well as domestic energy production. He assists Kentucky residents with federal matters and founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic to provide essential eye care. As a physician specializing in ophthalmology with a medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, he performs pro-bono surgeries for patients both locally and internationally (official website).
