Senator Rand Paul, chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and a physician specializing in ophthalmology, outlined his recent voting record on key legislative issues in a series of posts dated June 2, 2026.
In one post, Paul stated: “Voting against said omnibus bill unding Biden’s vaccine mandates Voting against bailing out the Post Office and stick Medicare with the bill Voting against Codifying Roe v. Wade in federal law and kill state restrictions on abortions” (June 2, 2026).
Another post read: “Voting against $300 billion on corporate welfare for chip manufacturers and politically-connected groups Voting to repeal the public transportation mask mandate Blocking funding for earmarks $1.5 trillion in an omnibus bill” (June 2, 2026).
Paul also addressed additional votes: “Voting against Biden’s $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act Voting against Advance Gun Control Legislation Closer to Passage Voting against $40 billion aid package for Ukraine” (June 2, 2026).
According to his official website, Paul earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and performs pro-bono eye surgeries both in Kentucky and abroad. He founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic and provides assistance to Kentucky residents dealing with federal agencies (source). In addition to his legislative work, he leads international medical missions.
These statements reflect Paul’s continued opposition to several major pieces of legislation related to health mandates, government spending packages, abortion rights codification at the federal level, gun control measures, corporate subsidies for chip manufacturers, foreign aid for Ukraine, and pandemic-related mask requirements.
