Rep. Brett Guthrie, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 2nd district since 2009, recently shared updates on legislative actions through social media. Guthrie, who succeeded Ron Lewis in 2009 and previously served in the Kentucky Senate from 2000 to 2008, has been active in promoting key legislative measures.

On May 19, 2025, Rep. Guthrie announced that “This week, the @HouseGOP will vote to secure the future of Medicaid.” He emphasized that their plan aims to ensure Medicaid benefits are available for those most in need and not for “illegal immigrants, ineligible recipients and those choosing not to work.”

Later that day, Guthrie posted about his visit to the White House as President Biden signed a significant piece of legislation into law. He expressed pride in bipartisan efforts leading up to this moment: “Heading to the White House now as @POTUS signs the TAKE IT DOWN Act into law to protect victims of real and deepfake revenge pornography.” The act represents a collaborative effort across party lines.

In a subsequent tweet on May 19, he encouraged followers to watch the signing ceremony: “Tune in as @POTUS signs the TAKE IT DOWN Act into law!”

Brett Guthrie was born in Florence, Alabama in 1964 and currently resides in Bowling Green at age 59.
