Rep. Brett Guthrie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 2nd district since 2009, recently shared updates on Medicaid reforms and military academy nominations in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On September 25, 2025, Guthrie visited seniors in Bardstown to discuss recent changes to Medicaid. He wrote, “Great to visit with seniors in Bardstown to discuss the ways that @HouseCommerce strengthened Medicaid in the Working Families Tax Cuts. Our plan ensures this vital program is there for those who need it most: seniors, single mothers, children, and people with disabilities.”
Later that evening, Guthrie referenced his background as a West Point graduate while discussing his involvement with U.S. Service Academy nominations. In a post dated September 25, he stated, “As a graduate of West Point, it is an honor to have the privilege of playing a role in nominating future leaders to the United States military academies. Earlier this week I hosted my annual Service Academy Information Night to provide prospective applicants to U.S. Service”.
On September 26, Guthrie addressed concerns about Medicaid spending in Kentucky following a recent audit report. He posted, “Republicans passed the Working Families Tax Cuts to protect Medicaid for whom it was intended – our most vulnerable. Last week, an audit discovered $800 million in waste in Kentucky’s Democrat-run Medicaid system. Every dollar of waste is another dollar not going to those who”.
Brett Guthrie has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ron Lewis in 2009 and previously represented constituents in the Kentucky Senate from 2000 to 2008. Born in Florence, Alabama in 1964 and currently residing in Bowling Green at age 59, Guthrie continues to focus on issues related to health care and education for his district.
