Senator Rand Paul, a U.S. Senator from Kentucky and chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, announced his support for new legislative efforts targeting federal gun record retention and called for the abolition of the Department of Education in a series of posts on April 17, 2026.
In one post, Paul stated, “I’ve signed onto the No Retaining Every Gun in a System That Restricts Your Rights Act to halt ATF record collection from closed dealers, destroy existing records within 90 days, ban future hoarding, & require reporting on deletions. This is another way I am fighting to preserve” (April 17, 2026). He also shared a link in a subsequent tweet: https://t.co/75tdIqVvHo (April 17, 2026).
