WKU Women’s Tennis will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming 2026 Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship, which is set to take place from April 15 to April 18 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at the Middle Tennessee Outdoor Tennis Complex and the Adams Tennis Complex, according to an announcement on April 13.

The seeding places WKU against No. 9 Sam Houston in their opening match at 10 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday, April 15. This matchup comes after a close contest between the two teams earlier in March when Sam Houston defeated WKU by a score of 5-2.

“Had a very close match with Sam Houston at our place in March and we know they will be a very difficult match in the conference championship,” WKU Women’s Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said.

WKU recently secured a win over Middle Tennessee with a score of 4-2 during Senior Day last Thursday. The team claimed victories in doubles as well as singles matches at positions three through five by Virginia Madueño, Barbara Olvera, and Ariadna Fernandez.

The Lady Toppers finished their regular season with an overall record of 11-13 and went even (2-2) against Conference USA opponents. The program has achieved at least ten wins each season for five consecutive years—a feat previously accomplished only between the years of 2009 and 2013—and has recorded its highest ever five-year win total with seventy-three victories during this period.

Other first-round pairings include New Mexico State versus Middle Tennessee and Liberty versus Missouri State. Louisiana Tech holds the top seed while FIU, Kennesaw State, Delaware, and Jax State round out seeds two through five respectively. Quarterfinals are scheduled for Thursday followed by semifinals on Friday and the championship match on Saturday; both semifinal and final rounds will be streamed live on ESPN+.
