Conference USA announced on Mar. 13 the complete football schedule for the 2026 season, detailing Western Kentucky University’s (WKU) matchups for both nonconference and conference play.
The release of the schedule provides fans and teams with a roadmap for the upcoming season, outlining key games and rivalries that will shape the year. The announcement also highlights changes in scheduling policies and television coverage for Conference USA.
WKU will begin its season with three consecutive road games against Nevada, Georgia, and Indiana before hosting Mercyhurst in its home opener on Sept. 26. The Hilltoppers’ conference slate includes eight matchups, starting with Missouri State at home on Oct. 2 and concluding with Louisiana Tech at home on Nov. 28. Notable games include trips to New Mexico State, Sam Houston, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee, as well as home contests against Liberty and Jax State.
The Hilltoppers have a history of competitive matchups with several opponents. For example, WKU holds a lead in its series against Missouri State (9-2) and Middle Tennessee (39-35-1), while Liberty has won all five previous meetings between the two schools. Head Coach Tyson Helton is undefeated against Middle Tennessee since taking over at WKU.
Conference USA’s alignment for 2026 will feature eleven teams without divisions: Delaware, FIU, Jax State, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, New Mexico State, Sam Houston, and WKU. The league continues its “Weekday CUSA” initiative with midweek October games broadcast across CBS Sports Network and ESPN networks.
All game dates are subject to change based on national television selections. Details about televised games will be released later. Additionally, WKU will host the Red & White Spring Showcase at Houchens-Smith Stadium on April 11 at noon; admission is free.
