Rep. Brett Guthrie, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 2nd district since 2009, recently highlighted several activities and statements on his official social media account.
On January 16, 2026, Guthrie announced the winners of a technology competition for students in his district. In his post he wrote, “I’m proud to announce the winning submissions for the 2025 Congressional App Challenge from #KY02! Their submissions were thoroughly impressive, and I am confident that these young minds have a bright future ahead! Way to go!”
Later that same day, Guthrie referenced a bipartisan effort regarding foreign policy toward Iran. He stated on January 16, 2026: “This week, I joined a bipartisan group of dozens of my colleagues in sending a letter to @SecRubio, encouraging the Trump Administration to carry out a foreign policy that supports the Iranian people in their struggle against the violent, authoritarian Iranian regime.”
On January 19, 2026—Martin Luther King Jr. Day—Guthrie posted about the civil rights leader’s legacy: “On MLKDay, we remember the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and reflect on his legacy and impact on our communities today.”
Guthrie has served as Kentucky’s representative in Congress since succeeding Ron Lewis in 2009 and previously held office in the Kentucky Senate from 2000 to 2008. Born in Florence, Alabama in 1964 and currently residing in Bowling Green at age 59, Guthrie continues to engage with both local constituents and national issues.
